Conditions for Exhibitors
The competitive classes are open to all growers.
Exhibitors are requested to give advanced notice to the show organiser of their intention to exhibit, by post or telephone. Late entries, for single pot classes only, will be accepted up to the end of staging on the day of the show. Entries should be entered onto an entry form prior to the show.
Exhibitors should apply to the show organiser for their class and name cards. Class cards must be placed face downwards, and the name cards placed face upwards, in front of each entry. Only cards provided by the society must be used.
All plants must be the property of the exhibitor, and been in his or her possession for at least three months prior to the show. This also applies to plants from which flowers are taken. Plants must be shown in the final sized pots in which they have been grown.
An exhibit having a greater or lesser number of plants than that specified in the schedule will be disqualified.
No exhibitor may have more than THREE entries in any one class unless otherwise specified.
Whilst judging is in progress all persons, except the judges, stewards and officers of the society officially retained, must retire from the show hall.
All exhibits must be correctly and legibly named. Errors in naming will not disqualify an exhibit, but judges will regard correctness of naming as telling in close competition. If an exhibitor does not know the name of the cultivar or species, it should be labelled 'Name unknown'.
The judges will be at liberty to withhold any prize if there is not a worthy exhibit. If there is a tie for first prize, the first and second prize monies will be equally divided between the two winners. This also applies to a tie for the second prize.
Any protest must be made in writing to the show organiser within one hour of the show opening, and any such protest will be considered by such members of the committee as are present and available. Any committee member having an interest in the objection or dispute cannot act. The committee shall have the power to declare any exhibit disqualified and their decision shall be final.
No exhibits or class cards may be removed before the end of the show without the consent and in the presence of the show organiser. Any infringements of this rule will mean the forfeiture of the prize money.
Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken, the Manchester Fuchsia Society, and/or The Larkhill Centre, do not hold themselves responsible for any loss or damage to an exhibit before, during, or after the show. All exhibits are shown at the exhibitor's own risk.
Plants of the section Encliandra may not be shown in the class for species. N.B. Plants listed in nursery catalogues as Species are not necessarily botanically correct.
Exhibitors and those visiting the Society's show must comply with the regulations and conditions imposed by The Larkhill Centre.
Any matter not provided for in these Conditions will be dealt with by the Committee, whose decision will be final.
